Why You Should Have a Staycation Girls Weekend: DELAMAR HOTEL REVIEW

Now that I’m in my thirties, typical nights out with my girlfriends are hard to come by. When they do happen, it’s usually because there was about six months of planning behind it. Seriously — try finding to find a free weekend between 4-5 people is usually impossible, even in the dead of winter! My college girlfriends and I try so hard to have two of these weekends a year (you can see our fall trip to Foxwood’s here), and I usually end up hosting one of those weekends! You all probably remember me saying that we recently converted my guest room into an office (and my girlfriends were the only ones effected for the ONE weekend a year they are here), so when we had the chance to come check out the brand new Delamar Hotel (which opened in September 2017), I jumped at the chance to book us there! It’s been so cool to have a beautiful boutique hotel close by — there are so many amenities that are now right down the road for us including a spa and delicious new restaurant!

THE HOTEL

The Delamar Hotel is located right in Blue Back Square in West Hartford, CT. I’ve been shooting my blog photos all over West Hartford for the last 6 years, so you’ve probably seen the area featured here and on Instagram before! The location is perfect — it’s close to all the shops and restaurants in town and almost everything is walkable! The hotel has gorgeous decor (neutrals mostly, but lots of textures to help keep it cozy) and the most inviting fireplace when you walk right inside! We checked into a Deluxe Double Queen room on Friday night, popped some rosé (obviously), and went down to the lobby to have drinks in their living room space. We ordered in that night from a local spot and spent our dinner gabbing away — it seriously felt like home!

The guestrooms were spacious and comfortable — with tons of closet space, a mini-fridge and wet bar area (which we obviously used), and an oversized bathroom, with plenty of vanity space for four girls to get ready. The bathrooms in the guests rooms are absolutely gorgeous — neutrals with a pop of teal on the cabinets. This place is seriously giving me major home decor inspiration!

THE SPA

For a daytime activity, we decided to head to the spa for a little R&R — which was so needed, it was absolutely FREEZING outside, so anything to keep us indoors was so appreciated. The Delamar was sweet enough to treat us to some manicures and champagne, so we hung out together and got a tour of the rest of the spa! The Delamar has a gorgeous full-service spa and I can’t wait to go back and experience another treatment! I’m planning to bring the hubs back for a day of relaxation soon!

THE RESTAURANT

One of my favorite parts about this new hotel opening up down the road from my house is the FABULOUS restaurant that opened with it! I was able to check out Artisan Restaurant during their opening weekend as part of a press event, and we’ve been SO in love with it, Raj and I have gone back multiple times since! My girls are foodies — we always make one dinner of our girls weekend a big one, and they were so excited once they checked out the menu. The menu is extensive and has something for everyone — and honestly, turned into one of my top favorite restaurants in town (and we have a lot of them to choose from). You all know I try to follow a (mostly) plant-based diet, and the menu has some delicious options to make that possible! The decor is absolutely gorgeous, and there’s a huge patio and fire-pit (with twinkle lights) that opens during warmer months! I’m seriously counting down the the minutes until the patio opens back up — it’s the perfect summer date night!
