A huge thanks to Walmart for sponsoring today’s post.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen this Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer Hot Air Brush circulating around social media over the past year. You all know how much of a die-hard fan I am of my Dyson Hair Dryer — it’s a MACHINE, and dries my hair in minutes without all the heat damage. I’ve had my Dyson for over 2 years and did a full review of it here. Spoiler alert: I freaking love it. I know it’s not always possible to drop several hundred dollars on a hairdryer and one of my frequently asked questions is for a less expensive alternative. Honestly? I’ve tried MANY hair dryers and there’s nothing like the Dyson. I really don’t think you can even understand how fast it dries your hair unless you actually use it. HOWEVER, I’m always down to try something new for a little research and development for ALL OF YOU. My mom scooped up this Revlon hairdryer during all the initial hype, so when visiting my parents during our renovation, I was able to give it a try without adding another tool to my beauty closet! After one use, I was hooked and decided to grab one for myself. LET ME PREFACE THIS AND SAY… this 100% does not replace my Dyson, nor does it dry my hair nearly as fast. In fact, I alternate between the two depending on what I have going on for hair plans. I love using the Dyson when I’m in a rush and want my hair dried fast… especially if I have to add a curl on top of it. The Revlon dryer has a brush attached to the top, so you’re able to glide the brush through the hair while the dryer is on — making it SUPER easy to achieve a sleek blowout basically with one hand. I loooove using this when I want a sleek and smooth hairdo — & the best part, it’s without the additional use of a straightener! It’s kind of a two-for-one and I love that my hair looks DONE after drying it.
Walmart has this Revlon dryer for an AMAZING price, and with FREE two-day shipping. For under $40, you can try this out without breaking the bank and have a sleek ‘do for all your holiday events — plus, I think this would make an amazing gift for that beauty lover in your life!
STEP-BY-STEP
- As I mentioned above, I don’t think the Revlon dryer dries my hair super fast (or I’m just spoiled now), so I would NEVER recommend trying to use this product on soaking wet hair. What I like to do when I get out of the shower is wrap my hair in one of these Aquis Hair Towels for 15-20 minutes (usually when I’m doing my makeup or having a #robelife moment). These microfiber towels help absorb the moisture in the hair and wick away water in the hair much faster than a cotton towel. It also helps fight frizz and I find my hair is smoother and shinier (vs if it just started air drying in the open air).
- One my hair is semi dry (I like it dry about 1/2 way), I spray this Color Wow Dream Coat Anti-Humidity Spray through my damp hair. This also helps to fight frizz and is heat activated — since it requires the use of a blow dryer to do its job, it’s the perfect time to add it! The silky hair texture you’re left with after it activates will last up to 72 hours (or 3-4 shampoos).
- There’s really no trick or technique needed for the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer Hot Air Brush — you just turn it on and start brushing your hair. I like to bring all of my hair over to one side and run it from my roots to the ends a few times, flip my hair over and do the other side, and then flip my head down and do the back. I repeat this several times until the hair is dry. For the front sections (and to help get a little front volume), I roll the hair into the dryer and set it there for a few seconds (similar to what you would do with a round brush). For my hair (drying from 1/2 dry), it takes about 10 minutes. When you flip your hair back up, you’ll see JUST how sleek and straight it is! You’re ready to go. No additional straightener needed!
