A huge thanks to Yealands for sponsoring today’s post.
As is this time of year isn’t special enough — the twinkle lights, the cozy fires and holiday movie lineup, the amazing food — it’s also the time of year I get to catch up with friends! Everyone comes home for the holidays, so our weekends are usually filled with holiday parties and get-togethers, but sometimes, there’s nothing better than throwing a girls’ night IN. I’ve hosted a few of these already this year at my house but headed over to my girl Marissa’s (beyond gorgeous) apartment for a little night in — and I made sure to bring my favorite white wine thanks to Yealands!
Here are my tips for hosting the most festive girls’ night in during the holiday season!
Make the dress code cozy. There’s nothing better than throwing on some comfortable loungewear and feeling like you’re dressed just right! I’m obsessed with these soft leggings and always love wearing my favorite beanie indoors — I’m always cold, it’s not just about the fashion!!! You can also stock up on cozy pillows, throws, and go all out with your holiday decor! How gorgeous is Marissa’s living room?!
Turn on the classics. Is there anything better than reminiscing with your girls?! Whether it’s an old college dance playlist or your favorite Christmas movies, make sure to add a classic to your playlist for the night! When I recently hosted my college friends at my house, we turned to watching FRIENDS reruns and were hysterically laughing for hours!
Bring on the snacks. Instead of a sit down dinner (save that for more formal/family affairs), opt for a long snack list and let everybody pick all night — it’s very IN to graze! I always love a good charcuterie board — assorted meats, cheeses, crackers, nuts, berries, jams and spreads on a big slab. I love mixing the flavors together, and even better, they’re beyond gorgeous and make a perfect centerpiece! I always make sure to have veggies and hummus to balance it out!
Don’t forget the WINE. I love a crisp white wine all year round and this Peter Yealands Sauvignon Blanc is one of my absolute favorites! I’m VERY picky with my Sauvignon Blancs — they NEED to be from New Zealand! Yealands is based in the Awatere Valley – the southernmost, coolest and driest of Marlborough’s growing regions. This one is bright and crisp while also maintaining a smooth and balanced finish — plus, it goes with all the snacks. VERY IMPORTANT! I’ve served this at every girls’ night and the verdict is always the same — “can we open another bottle?!”
Yealands is one of only a handful of wineries around the world to be certified as carbon neutral and the first-ever to be certified from inception. It’s not at all surprising that they have won for the People’s Choice New Zealand wine brand — you can check out some of their other wines here!
