HAPPY 2017! It’s crazy to think we’re at the start of a new year… again! I took the last few weeks to really reflect on everything Oh So Glam and am so excited to start sharing some content inspired by YOU! While I love sharing my outfits, beauty products, travel guides and home decor with you, I’m still always trying to find ways to make sure everything here on this blog inspires you — so that you can take what you saw here and incorporate it into your life! I tend to get a ton of questions from readers asking about my favorite trends and what to invest in (and what to skip). I did a post like this in the spring and it was one of my most well-received of the year, so I’d like to do these roundup posts for you a little more frequently! We’re all more busy than ever and we like our content direct and focused — so, while I’m sure some of you love sifting through my blog post-by-post for inspiration and ideas, some of you probably want it a little more streamlined! I’m going to try to give you the best of both worlds!
I’ve rounded up my 8 pieces to invest in this winter, all of which you’ve seen numerous times this season!
SHOP THE TRENDS
Suede Moto Jacket – This jacket has been selling out left and right and now comes in 5 colors! I had originally been wanting the coffee bean color and even ordered it during the Nordstrom anniversary sale last summer – but the order was cancelled as it sold out before they processed it! I was so bummed and kept thinking about it so I tried it on again recently in this newer burgundy color and am SO happy I waited!
Blanket Scarf – Blanket scarves have had their moment the last few years and it’s safe to say the trend slightly overdone! I swear, we’re going to look back at pictures one day of us literally wrapped up in plaid blanket scarves and laugh. This season’s version is more understated and this Free People scarf is everything. It’s the softest scarf I own and comes in a few colors including slate and blush!
Wrap Coat – I’ve had this coat in black for years and love this neutral version just as much… I feel like Olivia Pope! This coat is SUCH a great investment – it can be dressed up or down and always feels chic no matter what I’m wearing underneath. It’s also been on major sale this year, so be sure to scoop it up at a great price!
Layering Cami – I’ve invested in a few of these silk camis over the last few years and wear them to death during the summer. I was inspired one Fashion Week when I saw a model coming down the runway with a turtleneck under a cami, so I’ve been replicating the look this season and love it! It’s a great way to still be able to use your summer favorites and is an unexpected look that all your friends will be sure to copy! This one is under $35!
Cropped Flare Denim – I hate to break it to you, but shredded ripped jeans are on the way out. You know it’s true when even I’m over them. Up until about six months ago, you couldn’t find a pair of denim in my closet without holes in them — but don’t worry! If you love distressed denim as much as I used to, just upgrade! This season’s denim trend incorporates a bit of the distressed look, but focusing on the hemline! I am such a huge fan of these cropped flares I scooped up in the fall. They looked amazing with any type of mule or slides, but I was determined to wear them into the winter! Enter: ankle boots! An easy way to add a little edge to your look without letting your legs freeze! If the flare is a little too trendy for you, try the uneven hemline like these Mother jeans I’ve been wearing the last few months or this Paige pair I recently added. Bye, bye holes… my Dad is secretly breathing a sigh of relief!
Snow Boots – These always wind up on my list, but I just can’t say enough about them. Sure, they aren’t necessarily a trend, but they are a staple in my wardrobe and I highly recommend them if you live in a cold climate. The price goes up every single year and I’m going on year 4 with this same pair!
Statement Blouse – I was at the mall a few weeks ago (I know, what are those?!) and stumbled upon this button up blouse and seriously almost passed out. I’ve been trying to invest in simple, classic blouses the last few years that can be worn through every season and was debating splurging on this designer version because I loved the button details and felt I would wear the hell out of it for the next few years. This blouse is almost identical and a fraction of the price, so I scooped it up fast! You girls seemed to LOVE it on Instagram (you already bought a TON of them), but I felt it was worth it to share on the blog, too!
Velvet Booties – Definitely the most trendy of the list, anything velvet right now still has my heart. I loveee these velvet boots and you can’t beat the price tag (they also look identical to a designer version). I get so many compliments on them every time I wear them out! If the blue is a little out there for you, they come in a more toned-down black and a pretty blush that will let you wear the trend into spring!
