Floral Lace Cap Sleeve Dress c/o Marks & Spencer
I think the majority of us are guilty of this — just living life like we’re on autopilot. I’ll be the first to admit that I get completely caught up in the mundane, and I’ve been trying to be more conscious and take more risks, both in life and in my wardrobe. While I’m normally a planner to the max and love things laid out months in advance, I booked a sort of last minute trip to Charleston with 10 days notice and it was so worth it. Marks & Spencer has been inspiring me to be more adventurous with my wardrobe too — their “Life. Spend it Well.” campaign is giving me all the feels and confidence to just go for it, instead of always over-thinking. I sometimes find myself gravitating towards the same pieces over and over again — in neutrals of course. It’s almost like I have a closet full of the same thing. I spotted this gorgeous yellow lace dress from Marks & Spencer a few weeks back and my first instinct was to keep myself scrolling because I barely wear color, yet alone yellow. After a mild internal debate, I ordered it — along with this floral jumpsuit as a backup option, because…obviously that’s my safe choice. When it arrived in the mail, I still couldn’t bring myself to fully commit, so I tried on both options and let my husband be the judge. Without missing a beat, he 100% loved the yellow option and mentioned that in 10 years, he didn’t think he’s ever seen me in yellow (and he’s right, he hasn’t — #browniepoints).
It’s of course wedding season (along with the 100 other events that are filling up our calendars this time of year), and this dress arrived in perfect time! The color screams summer weather to me and I love every little detail about it — the asymmetrical hemline, the drop waist silhouette, the floral lace, the cap sleeves and open back. I also picked up this trench coat and this frilly blouse, both new arrivals!
What do you think of my wardrobe chance with this yellow lace dress?! Leave me a comment below!
