There’s been quite a lull for #GLAMtraveldiary, but that’s about to change momentarily! I’m getting ready (and organized) for our annual “spring break” trip — and since I’m always asked about packing, I figured I’d give you a peek inside my suitcase and answer some other frequently asked questions for a warm weather destination! We’re heading off to The Bahamas — both of us have been there before, but only on cruise stops, so we’re excited to stay somewhere we’ve always said we wanted to come back and explore!
OUTFITS
We’re only jetting away for 5 days, so I’m planning to carry on. Whenever we take shorter trips, I like to have everything with me (in the event luggage gets lost), so staying organized and planning ahead of time is absolutely KEY to keeping things lightweight. I’ll be doing my best trying not to double up on anything, and will be planning all outfits (down to the tiny details) in advance. Here’s a roundup of some highlight pieces I can’t wait to wear!
BEAUTY
Whenever I travel somewhere warm, I always scale down my makeup case and try to wear as little makeup as possible. I’ll only bringing the essentials (which I’m highlighting below) and I’m excited to be partnering with a brand once I’m there to show you a “vacation makeup look” — that will be coming to my Instagram in a couple of weeks!
Other beauty items for the sun:
- Supergoop Sunscreen: this is hands down my favorite brand for sun products, and I pack them all! I love their Unseen Sunscreen (with SPF 40) for my face. It’s the most lightweight sunscreen I’ve found and can be worn alone or under makeup flawlessly. I also love their CC cream in lieu of foundation — it gives such amazing coverage while still allowing your skin to breathe. I’m also excited to try the Invincible Setting Powder that comes in the most convenient travel size.
- Mon Shampoing Sun Kit: My hair always fades so bad in the sun (and turns a brassy color), so I’m excited to try out this line that can help protect my hair from the sun!
- Sunless Tanner: I’m planning to get a spray tan from a local place in Connecticut before we head off, but I love bringing a little of my favorite sunless tanner serum to mix in with some lotion when I get out of the shower. It helps to even out tan lines (did you SEE my swimsuits?!) and honestly takes the pressure off to get too crazy of a tan. Your girl is PALE AF right now!
SWIMWEAR
I’m bringing a mix of older and newer suits with me for this trip — including this cutout one piece (for a really fun upcoming brand project for the 3rd year in a row) + this high-waisted set with matching knotted top!
TRAVEL GEAR
I always look like an absolute goof when traveling and constantly apologize to Raj that he has to travel with me! 😉 I tend to get cold on planes so I have to layer up — plus, it makes bringing a sweater on a trip when you’re carrying on easy as ever! I also like to travel in sneakers (and again, since they are usually heavy, it helps free up weight and space). I also always travel with my hat on and store it under the seat when we’re flying (or above in the compartments on my suitcase if there is room).

March 1, 2018 at 11:25 amThis is so helpful as I being to think about how to pack for a 3 week european trip I have this summer! I got the cutest hat and I wasn’t sure how to bring it, I didn’t even think of wearing it on board and storing it under the seat! Genius! Enjoy your trip! From one CT gal to another, I have to say I’m super jealous you’re jetting out of this Nor’easter we’re supposedly getting! 🙂
