A huge thanks to Sam’s Club for sponsoring today’s post.
Let’s face it, the holidays can be STRESSFUL. I’m learning that more and more as I become older as we start to entertain. These days, not only do you need delicious food — but, you also need your home decor and tablescape to be “picture perfect.” You really do. Because, you know someone is going to take a picture of it and blast it to everyone they know on Instagram!
Not to worry, friends… I got you covered! Planning a festive tablescape this season that will WOW your guests is actually easier than you think! I’m teaming up with Sam’s Club today to share some of my favorite tips and tricks that I’ve learned over the last few years that will have your guests leaving impressed! Think of it as, how to SLEIGH this holiday season. Get it?! Okay… let’s get to it!
Have the food be the centerpiece. When your food is this gorgeous… why wouldn’t you display it?! I stopped into Sam’s Club last week prepared to get everything I needed for a massive cheese board. The ingredients were all so gorgeous and looked so amazing when thrown all together — I knew I needed to have it be the focal point of the table! I was able to grab five different kinds of cheese, pre-sliced proscuitto and salami, a few different kinds of crackers and french bread, assorted nuts, olives and artichokes, and all of this fruit for such a reasonable cost! I also grabbed these assorted pinwheel sandwiches (perfect for groups and parties) and adorably decorated fall cupcakes and displayed them on these cake stands I got from Sam’s Club! All of the food was part of the newly expanded Member’s Mark private label line — there are now 2,000 products as part of this line and they’re continuing to add more. I couldn’t even believe some of items that were part of the Member’s Mark brand, there were so many choices!
Don’t worry about perfection. I actually don’t love when everything is too matchy-matchy and always strive for things to look effortlessly thrown together — both in my wardrobe and in my home. It’s perfectly acceptable to mix and match metals and patterns — I did here with this holiday tablescape! I wanted to use these festive candles, but they don’t exactly match the gold chargers and silverware! I also somehow misplaced two of these black plaid napkins, so I added a red and green pattern to the ends of the table and just went with it. Try not to let little details like that get to you and work with what you have!
Stacking for the win. Layering placemats and chargers under your plates takes the tablescape up an immediate notch. Find a placemat with a little texture or pattern, place a charger on top, and then add your plates! I bet you didn’t even notice this is just our plain white everyday dining set — it totally distracts your eye and makes it look a little more GLAM.
Think outside the box. I realized I didn’t have name tags for everyone’s place settings while I was already setting up the table. Whoops. I wasn’t about to run out again, so I tried to think on the fly. What could work?! An idea popped into my head and I just ran with it! I used last year’s leftover gift tags and tied them around the napkin holders!
Don’t forget the wine! I was also able to grab a couple of bottls of Member’s Mark Wine at Sam’s Club which was SO helpful the day we hosted our pre-holiday get together with our friends. Being able to grab the wine where I already was shopping saved me another stop and was super affordable!
Sam’s Club offers numerous ways to put time back in your day so you can spend more time celebrating the season with family and friends. I downloaded the Sam’s Club Scan & Go App to help save me some time. When shopping in-club, it allows you to scan barcodes of items you add to your cart. No need to check out at the register!
What are your favorite holiday tips and tricks!? I’d love to hear your take below! Are you hosting any get-togethers this season? Leave me a comment and let me know how you’re planning to WOW your guests!
