A huge thanks to Rodan + Fields for sponsoring today’s post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ll admit… it took me getting into my mid-to-late twenties before I had a solid skincare routine. I think I was 26-27 when I started to realize that a face wash and moisturizer wasn’t going to cut it any longer, and my skincare journey started. While I’ve found that a skincare regimen has done wonders for my skin health, I’ve noticed that each few years, I need to pause and regroup… as my needs are constantly changing as I age. While I still love my same core products, I’ve incorporated a few new ones into my routine where I felt I was a little flat.
I’m such a fan of Rodan + Fields products (you all know my love for Lash Boost, Brow Defining Boost, Redefine Lip Renewing Serum, and Active Hydration Body Replenish, my all-time favorite all-over body moisturizer). There was no better brand to turn to for a little extra help in my routine. To help address the extra dryness I was feeling during the daytime, I added Active Hydration Serum into the mix during my morning skincare routine. And, to amp up my anti-aging needs now that I’m in my mid-thirties, I added Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum to my nightly routine to help combat fine lines, wrinkles, and the loss of firmness I’m now experiencing.
Let’s get into the details.
Active Hydration Serum
I have naturally dry skin — it gets dry in the summertime with a little sun, salt and sand exposure and even drier in the winter with the cold air and wind. Adding Active Hydration Serum locks in hydration 200% after just one use and is made to layer additional skincare products on top without disturbing their purpose. I notice that when used on days I’m feeling extra dry, my makeup stays on smoother (without creasing), and my skin overall just looks more plump and healthy. It contains glycerin, which helps prevent moisture loss for up to 8 hours, and hyaluronic acid, which deeply hydrates the skin.
How I Use Active Hydration Serum
- In the morning, I start by cleansing my face.
- After patting dry with a clean cloth, I apply Active Hydration Serum to my face and neck.
- I follow up with a Vitamin-C treatment, eye cream and my daytime moisturizer.
*GLAM Beauty Tip: If you have oily/combination skin, you can use this product at nighttime before any treatment products! If I’m feeling extra dry (too much sun, after traveling on a plane, etc.), I’ll use this twice a day!
Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum
I had been using a retinol product 2-3x a week for the last few years, but now that I’m in my mid-thirties, my aesthetician recommended raising that to nightly to really help resurface and renew the skin for a more vibrant and youthful complexion. The problem with most retinols is how drying they can be (not great for someone who already has dry skin to begin with). What drew me to Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum is that it’s meant for daily use. This serum contains Retinal: a form of Vitamin A that’s more potent than Retinol but gentle enough for daily use, Peptides: that reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and a Calcium Buffering System making it gentle enough for almost all skin types.
How I Use Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum
- I’ll start by double cleansing (if wearing makeup that day) by using a cleansing balm followed up with a face wash to ensure all product is off my face.
- I’ll follow up with a treatment: Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum. I love that they come in an individualized capsule: it helps take the guesswork out of how much product to apply (since it’s already measured) and is also a breeze to throw in a toiletry bag when traveling.
- After treatment, I’ll follow up with a thick nighttime moisturizer, a nighttime eye cream, and if I’m feeling extra dry, I’ll follow up with a face oil.
*GLAM Beauty Tip: If you have extra Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum in your capsule, you can apply to your neck and back of hands!
