Do the Twist

{Forever 21 blazer, Dress from random boutique in Newport RI, Pumps c/o Fabulous on a Dime, Target sunglasses, Micheal Kors watch, Tory Burch earrings, Rings c/o delia langan jewelry, Bangles: Alex & Ani, David Yurman, Bracelets: c/o JewelMint, c/o Stella & Dot}

Well, well, I’m back from Vegas and man has it been one heck of a week!  It’s so tough to get back into the swing of things… and I’ve never been good with adjusting to the time difference!  Here’s my best attempt at regular clothing again (i.e. NOT bathing suits and club dresses).  I kid, I kid!  I got this dress while shopping in Newport and wore it for the first time in Nashville last summer.  I can’t wear it without thinking of my favorite city in the world.  Mr. Photographer said the same thing, it’s funny how certain outfits bring back memories.

I twisted my hair down on both sides into a low ponytail and wrapped a piece of hair around the elastic to achieve this look.  Thanks again Pinterest!  Another go-to hair style for those lazy days!

Spring Florals

1. Betsey Johnson Diskko pumps
2. Urban Outfitters sunglasses
3. Citizens of Humanity Mandy floral jeans
4. Free People shorts
5. Forever 21 floral dress
6. Tory Burch Dalton printed blouse
7. LULU printed scarf

Some florals on my spring wish list! Floral has always been adorably in style for dresses and blouses… but this spring and summer will bring many more floral accessories and JEANS! These COH jeans are on my covet list (and have been for quite a while). I’m totally fighting the urge to make the purchase and will try to find a more wallet-friendly version!

Color Me Happy

{Forever 21 blazer & dress, Express tights, BCBG wedge booties (on sale!), Michael Kors bag, Earrings c/o Delia Langan Jewelry, Michael Kors watch, Charming Charlie bracelet, Banana Republic ring, Forever 21 headband}

This Spring will be about color. Not just any color, but all colors. And lots of them worn together. I’m talking about one of this season’s biggest trends, “Color Blocking.” I’ve been so anxious to try out this trend myself! To be honest, this trend requires a little bravery, especially since I’m more of a neutral gal… but you can do it!  Here are some of my tips:
-If you’re a color-blocking beginner, it’s best to stick with two colors that are extremely contrasting.
-Be sure to stick with solid colors without prints, ruffles, pockets, or frills to keep the look simple.
-Keep the shoes and all other accessories neutral.
-Either the top or the bottom clothing article should be fitted. This will provide structure to the outfit which is perfect for a polished look.
-For a more office appropriate look, stick with colors within the same palette to keep the look more harmonious.

This trend is set to stay around through 2013… will you be giving it a go?
