Here are a list of questions I receive most often…
How old are you?
I’m 32 years old.
What size are you and how tall?
For sizing purposes, I’m happy to share this info! I’m typically a size 0/2 and a 25 in denim. People think I’m taller than I actually am. I’m slightly under 5’5.
When and why did you start your blog, Oh So Glam?
I started Oh So Glam back in September 2011 after following a few blogs for years. Family and friends have always come to rely on me for helping with outfit inspiration and I was receiving a ton of questions about what I was wearing/where to buy, so I thought it would be the perfect outlet.
Do you make any money from blogging?
I use affiliates such as RewardStyle & ShopStyle that provide me with special links to use in my posts. In return, I may receive a small commission. Not all of the products I post on this blog are linked with affiliate sites and it does not affect what I choose to put on the blog. Occasionally, I will work with brands and companies and do a sponsored blog post or social media post, however I will not post about anything that I wouldn’t otherwise post about for free. I always disclose all sponsored content at the bottom of the post by saying, “A huge thanks to BRAND/COMPANY for sponsoring today’s post.”
You can read more about this on my POLICY page.
Do you have another job outside blogging?
In early 2015 I was able to reach one of my goals and take Oh So Glam full-time! Prior to that, I worked full-time as a Social Media Strategist and Account Director for Rebel Interactive Group, based out of Connecticut, while also maintaining Oh So Glam (which became a full-time job as well).
What kind of camera do you use and who takes your photos?
I use my iPhone 7 Plus for most of my Instagram photos. For the blog, my husband Raja takes most of my photos (bless his soul) and we use a Nikon D700 with a 50mm lens.
I just started a blog. Do you have any advice?
Starting a blog is an amazing step (regardless of the topic), so first of all… congrats!
My advice (coming from a former social media professional) is to keep your content specific and consistent. People are going to come to you because you are an expert at something. They need to trust you and your content. Oh So Glam mostly focuses on style and beauty and has started to incorporate home decor and travel (and even wedding content) over the last year due to reader requests. In order not to disturb other readers who have come to rely on me for style and beauty advice, I found it very important to create series around the other content so my audience segments knew what to expect. It helps keep my readership streamlined and has helped attract new readers.
From a blogger point of view, get involved! Sitting behind a desk can only get you so far. Find local blogger conferences and get out there to meet people who are new to blogging as well! One of the best parts of blogging for me has been the relationships I’ve been able to make with amazing women from all over the world (literally). The understanding and support is always needed and appreciated. We’ve all gone from being pen-pals, to meeting, to saying “I LOVE YOU” when we get off the phone or leave each other.
Also, invest in a good camera. No matter the topic, visuals are KEY. Although iPhones take pretty nice pictures these days, invest in a DSLR camera for clear, crisp images.
Who does your hair and eyelash extensions?
My two most popular questions. My hair is currently done by Strand Salon in Glastonbury, CT. My color is done by Jen, extensions are done by Lindsay, and my cut is done by Paul. I don’t currently have eyelash extensions, but have gone to Larissa Lake Makeup Artist in Wethersfield, CT in the past!
I would love to partner together on a collaboration, can I reach out?!
Of course! If you would like to work together, please feel free to shoot me over an email! email@example.com
