How You Can Shop What I Wear on Instagram

I’ve been making some (small and subtle) changes here on Oh So Glam behind-the-scenes, in particular — to how you can SHOP using this blog as a reference, and a couple of these changes have caused some questions from you gals!  I wanted to take a few moments to walk you through what’s changed, WHY I decided to make these changes, and explain how you can shop for what I’m wearing EASIER than ever!

WHY THE CHANGE?

While this blog is more content heavy — I love to write and share tips and tricks with you all on style, travel, beauty and lifestyle… Instagram is more for those quick outfit posts where I can share what I’m wearing in real-time!  If you’ve been following me for a while, you may be familiar with LikeToKnow.It — and are probably signed up with the platform and you can shop for all your favorite blogger’s looks!  There’s a lot of different ways to do this to fit your shopping needs — by getting an email, by downloading their app, or by visiting your favorite blogger’s SHOP page on their blog.  But, there’s also a lot of room for error this way — a lot of you express frustration that you never received the email with the outfit details, you don’t want to download another app, you can’t tell when something is the exact item I’m featuring (or a similar, less expensive version), the items that have been linked by me are now sold out, you prefer to just “swipe up” from my Insta Stories, etc.  The feedback I got from YOU ALL was so helpful and so, so insightful.

So, after mulling over that feedback and having some strategy sessions with some of the gals that help me out behind-the-scenes here at OSG HQ, I’ve been moving away from linking my outfits with LikeToKnow.It and have a few easy ways you can now shop my looks.

SHOP MY INSTAGRAM

You may have already noticed that for some time, I’ve been directing you to find all the answers to your outfit questions over on my blog.  That’s because, you can ALWAYS FIND THE ANSWER HERE.  It’s seriously like magic.  Unlike, LikeToKnow.It, my blog won’t accidentally never make it to your inbox… it’s always here for you!  I have a dedicated SHOP MY INSTAGRAM page– which you can find up top of my blog in the menu bar.  Any time I post a picture on Instagram, I always tag whatever I’m wearing and it automatically gets posted there.  Every single picture!

The SHOP MY INSTAGRAM page looks like THIS:

From there, you can click on ANY image you see, and a drop down of clothing, accessories, home decor, or beauty products will appear.  You can click on the item and you will be taken to the exact link on the site. GO AHEAD AND TRY IT!  Click one of the images above.  What I love about this is how you can see if I’ve marked something EXACT ITEM.  This is your indication that I’m either wearing these EXACT pieces and/or linking a similar item.  Sometimes, you gals will ask me to find similar options that are less expensive.  Maybe the thumbnail image of the product looks different under the retailer’s studio lights or they showed it in a different color — it can be confusing.  OR, sometimes I love an item so much that is from a past season and I still want to wear it.

As you can see from the example above, the sweater dress I’m wearing is shown at Nordstrom in grey and shown over jeans… confusing, am I right?  So many of you got this link and were like, UMM WHAT?!  You can see that it actually is the EXACT ITEM I’m wearing in the photo once you click on the link and see other photos of the dress.  But, you have to do a little digging to come to that conclusion.  Not anymore.  I’m also featuring a very similar white ribbed turtleneck that is unavailable from Michael Stars, so I linked an almost identical version for you from Express… but didn’t note that it’s an exact item.  I also linked my Stuart Weitzman boots (marked EXACT) and then a similar pair for a fraction of the price as another option.  I also linked a similar watch but linked my exact sunglasses and hoop earrings.

I’m also now notified if an item I’ve featured before on one of my Instagram’s has sold out, and I’m able to go through and revise/edit the products.  If you happen to stumble upon an older photo of me wearing something, you can now get directed to the exact product if I was able to find it at another retailer, or a similar option… instead of being led to a dead product page.

*A lot of you actually told me you prefer to TAP on my image from Instagram to see the brand/retailer, so I’m doing my best to tag those as well — but, then you would have to comb through that retailer’s site to try to find the product.  If you want to go on the hunt, by all means, knock yourself out.  But this provides you a direct link to make it easy!  Plus, you help a sister out by contributing to this blog… as I make a small click through rate when you are referred to a retailer from me.  I get to do this as my full-time job and your support means so much to me.  I wouldn’t be able to do this without you… so, thank you times one million!

USING MY SHOP PAGE

I also have a dedicated SHOP page — which is different from SHOP MY INSTAGRAM, and features products I’ve mentioned or would love to recommend to you that I’ve talked about on other social media platforms.  I talk on and feature images and videos on Instagram Stories almost daily, and constantly update my SHOP PAGE to reflect everything I chatted about.  If you head there now, you’ll see that I have different buttons, a SHOP ALL — which is exactly how it sounds, it collects all items and adds them together.  I also breakdown each SHOP (you must be on a desktop to view this version), and have different SHOPS so you can view my current beauty routine, current haircare favorites, my style and everything I’ve been wearing RIGHT NOW, and my travel must-haves.  I will also be including a HOLIDAY SHOP here very soon and will be featuring different gift ideas!  I also have a tab on Instagram Stories, so everything I’ve recently mentioned is listed here.  I recently did a try-on session and all of the items I showed you are currently linked here along with my favorite dry-shampoo!
