1 A Glam Engagement

Our Wedding | Details & Decor

It’s time for another Wedding Wednesday and I’ll be sharing all about our details and decor today!  If you missed either of my first two wedding recap posts, make sure to check out our favorite highlights here and some moments from getting ready the morning of here!

For our August wedding, I wanted a very romantic feel and kept using the phrase “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” since our ceremony and reception started at 5pm.  I’m also drawn to neutrals, which you’ll see we barely strayed away from, and wanted to keep the look light and airy.  I absolutely loved every last detail and am so proud of the final outcome!  Read on for more about our planning process and selections!

Oh So Glam Wedding

So, the first question I’ve been getting is, “what did you say you wanted your overall theme of your wedding to be” and I believe the exact words I used were vintage, rustic, glam.  My favorite color is white and I’m constantly drawn to anything neutral (both in my wardrobe and our home decor) so it was only natural to keep that flow going for our wedding. The only “color” used was a very pale blush (seen in the flowers, centerpieces and table decor).

Due to the time crunch, we decided to use Minted for invitations to make our lives as easy as possible!  The selection was large and we found exactly what we were looking for… a pale blush invitation using a beautiful gold scripted foil for a vintage glam touch.  They arrived in days and I was able to get them out ASAP (crucial for inviting guests with less than 6 months notice).

My mom was also a huge help with DIY programs that were so beautiful, our photographer used them in many detail shots!

I knew I wanted a neutral palette for our flowers and boutonnieres and was comfortable using flowers in season (a mix of white hydrangeas, blush garden roses and greenery to give it a natural look).  For the bridesmaid’s bouquets, we tied long cream color ribbons around the stems so that they hung in front of the girl’s dresses… it was such a different touch!

For decor, we pulled a lot of vintage pieces such as old cameras, typewriters and books symbolic of my blogging career, antique furniture with glitzy toss pillows and faux fur throws, an old record player, vintage trays, mixed and matched place settings, lanterns, flowers and candles throughout every corner for a very romantic feel, and then added some fun pieces like an old-school bicycle (including basket and real baguette) and crochet set.  We also set up a beautiful little area in the lawn under one of the largest trees on the property with hanging chandeliers and a picnic blanket as a place for guests to take some photos… it was probably one of the most used backdrops of the day!

We wanted to show off the beauty of Lord Thompson Manor so bringing that neutral palette throughout the tables and decor was essential.  We were lucky enough to not have to start with a “blank space” as most venues force you to do.  We wanted to work with what was already there and accentuate it.  Keeping with the “rustic/vintage/glam” feel, we used a light gold table cloth on each table to give the tables a grand look.  We also mixed and matched the table settings so everyone had slightly different silverware for a vintage feel.  For centerpieces, we used a delicate piece of vintage lace to run across the table and placed a large piece of barn wood in the center to bring in that rustic element.  We then used large antique glass boxes for the flower arrangements and placed gold candelabras in the center for some height.  I loved that each table was truly different and nothing matched… each box/flower arrangement and the candelabras were all different sizes and heights across each table.

My mom helped a ton with little details and which made the venue look like our own home.  We used the baby grand piano in the foyer to showcase old family wedding photos of our parents and grandparents and some of Raja and my favorite photos (our cat Mischa made it front and center).

I talked about this in my last post, but I love The Mrs. Box ring holders that we used so much throughout the day for photos!

Our cocktail hour took place on the patio in back of the manor with plenty of food, drinks and music.  Raja and I created our signature cocktails symbolic of our own separate businesses that we started as hobbies and then turned into full-time careers.  Mine was “GLAM-pagne” for my blog, Oh So Glam, which was champagne, club soda, St. Germaine and a lemon twist and Raja’s Luxe-Tini was vodka, blue-cheese olives with a splash of dry vermouth.  The drinks weren’t randomly chosen and are actually drinks that we offer our friends when they come over, so it was very fitting!

Guests filled up on a full spread of Hors D’oevres during cocktail hour including mini grilled cheese sandwiches, braised duck with figs, shrimp fra-diablo, asian inspired meatballs, steak crostinis, 5 spice chicken bites, fresh tomato and basil bruschetta, a variety of flatbreads, cheese and antipasto boards.

We started with a summer salad with white balsamic vinaigrette, mixed heirloom tomatoes and fresh baby cucumbers.  Next, we selected two tasty entrees to please a variety of palettes.  We went with a pan seared honey glazed salmon (with minted apricot sauce) paired with a sliced tenderloin of beef with roasted potatoes and lemon asparagus spears.

I’m not much of a dessert person so I let Raja and his mom handle this one!  They worked with our chef to create a rich chocolate ganache cake that we still get compliments on to this day!  Lord Thompson also created the cake decor to match the look of the rest of the wedding, a blush cake with flowers up the side on a gold vintage plate.

I could spend all day going over each incredible detail that made our day feel like a dream but if you want to check out of official wedding highlight video, make sure to head here!  If you can’t get enough wedding talk, make sure to head over and check out our favorite moments from the entire day and how me and my bridal party spent our morning!

Next week I will be showing you a peek inside our Tuscan-themed rehearsal dinner to wrap up our month-long Wedding Wednesday series!

These are the jeans I live in — the ones that feel like sweatpants but somehow work for real outfits.
I styled them a bunch of different ways here because they’re that rare unicorn piece: comfy enough for everyday, polished enough to actually leave the house in.

Think cozy layers, easy upgrades, and outfits that feel put together without trying too hard.

We went ALL OUT with the holiday lights this year and I’m so glad we did. 🎄✨ I searched for holiday lighting companies on @yelp, read through reviews, looked at photos of their past projects, and found the perfect team to bring our vision to life. Booked them within minutes, and before I knew it our house looked like a Christmas dream. The kids’ reactions at the big reveal? Priceless.
Yelp made it so easy to go from idea to reality—and now every time we pull up to the house, we get to see their little faces light up all over again. This is the magic I want them to remember. 💫

✨ Our favorite holiday tradition is back! ✨
Every year, we visit Santa’s Flight Academy at @shopwestfarms! This isn’t just about photos with Santa (though those are precious!) – it’s a full interactive experience that makes the kids’ eyes light up.
From powering Santa’s sleigh with holiday cheer to dancing in the enchanted snowfall, my kids were in their element. Yes, there were a few tears on Santa’s lap (we’ve all been there! 😅), but sitting together made all the difference.
Some traditions are worth keeping, and this is definitely one of ours. 🎄❤️

📍 Santa’s Flight Academy is at Westfarms through December 24th – reservations available!
