It’s Wedding Wednesday again and I’m back with some moments from the morning of. If you missed my first wedding post last week, make sure to check out the highlights (including our video)!
Getting ready all day was actually one of the most fun parts about our day and I loved getting to spend so much time with all nine of my gorgeous bridesmaids, my mom and grandma. I loved having everyone in one room! How often does that happen?! I stayed with Raja’s sister the night before (and actually slept like a rock) and was picked up at 7am by my maid-of-honor, Dana, blasting “Going to the Chapel” out her car windows! We kicked off the morning with massages, coffee and fruit, and then it was time to start getting beautiful! My hairdresser Emily (the owner of Teazd Salon in Avon, CT) came with her team and did our hair and makeup. Having someone there that I know and love instantly calmed any nerves I had going into the day, so we turned the music up, popped some champs and started the party!

The Lord Thompson Manor’s Cottage House is a sister property right down the road from the manor and is usually where the bridal party stays for the weekend! It’s an all-white dream, with beautiful beach-cottage decor, and is basically a girl’s version of heaven. Off the house in the back is a gorgeous large space with little GLAM stations for getting ready the day of the wedding!
We had an incredibly hot (but sunny!) day, so my bridesmaids mostly chose to pull their hair back in loose, un-done styles. There were lots of boho braids and glamour curls, and I thought they all just looked so beautiful!
For my own hair and makeup, I kept my look very simple and true to what I normally look like. I felt that was important to not only feel like myself, but I wanted my dress to be the star of the show. Emily used Urban Decay’s Naked Palette to give me a subtle smokey eye and I brought my favorite neutral lip color, bareMineral’s Marvelous Moxie in ‘Break Away’ to keep the overall look soft. For my hair, I added some clip-in extensions to give me some extra length and volume for the day, since my hair is on the fine side. Luxy Hair makes the best extensions in my opinion and since my hair is always baliage or ombre, having hair extensions that fade from dark to light is the best thing that’s ever happened!
I also had a few brides-to-be ask what color nail polish I was wearing for the big day! This was such a tough one for me because I normally do my own nails, but wanted to make sure they were perfect for photos! I went to my local salon a few weeks before for a nail color trial and didn’t love the color I ended up choosing, so when it came time for my actual appointment, I brought in my own that I wore all summer! I’m wearing Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in ‘Creme de la Creme.’
For getting ready, I always loved the idea of matching robes (and it makes for some beautiful photos). BHLDN was kind enough to send my bridal party a mix of light pink and blue silk robes and gifted me this gorgeous cream lace robe. I loved the contrasted tie and long lace on the sleeves! I’ve worn it on more than one occasion after the wedding! BHLDN has such an incredible selection of robes for your entire bridal party! I love these floral ones too!
Since our wedding was in the middle of summer, I went with white and blush hydrangeas, garden roses and mixed in some greenery for some muted color. We tied a long cream ribbon on all the bridal party’s stems, which gave a gorgeous boho feel to the arrangements, and looked so pretty against the chiffon bridesmaid dresses.
My dress was a custom Inbal Dror with thin lace sleeves and an open back. There was also hand beading throughout for a little vintage touch and a beautiful thin belt across the front. It was honestly probably one of the most comfortable things I’ve ever worn and was fitted to perfection by the team at Mark Ingram in NYC. My mom bought me these Manolo Blahnik blue Hangisi pumps (yes, the Sex & The City ones) for my bridal shower for my ‘Something Blue.’ I always knew in my mind that I wanted blue wedding shoes loved how they peaked out from under the dress. I also wore them the next morning to our send-off brunch and again on our mini-moon in Newport. I found a great alternative if you love the look (but hate the price tag). These pair are under $50 and so similar!
I borrowed a pair of pearl and diamond earrings from my best friend and college roommate for my ‘Something Borrowed’ — she actually wore them in her own wedding the year before. They went perfectly with both of our dresses and I just love that tradition! The beaded BHLDN clutch I wore during my wedding will actually be borrowed by another one of my bridesmaids, getting married this April!
Another few touches that made for some perfect photos were these custom wire hangers that my cousin made for me, my entire bridal party, mom, mother-in-law and grandma. I actually gave them to my bridal party with their robes on them initially and then they hung up their dresses while we were all getting ready. I told her she could make a fortune if she opened up her own Etsy shop, but she just wants to make them for fun (aww), so I found a similar shop on Etsy that makes them! The Mrs. Box also sent me a beautiful vintage velvet ring holder with an embroidered ‘T’ in gold. Not only did it keep our rings in it for our ceremony, but we used it as a prop to take pictures of the rings! It comes in a ton of colors and fonts and makes the perfect gift!
My bridesmaid’s picked their own dresses from J. Crew in three colors (champagne, misty rose and dusty thistle) and carried these monogrammed clutches (a little gift from my friends over at GiGi New York). They also had these KEY foldable flats in rose gold tucked away to change into for dancing (because we did SO much of that) from Yosi Samra!
