Beauty | Easy Half-Up Top Knot with Pantene

Half Up Top Knot Tutorial

Cutting my hair last summer was one of the most liberating things I’ve ever done.  Taking off those 7 or 8 inches of hair was like getting a new identity and I loved how chic I felt.  The only thing I missed being able to do was put my hair in a top knot on the days I went too long without washing (you know those days).  I’m excited to team up with Pantene today to show you the easiest way to get the top knot look for short hair!  Since this look requires hairspray, some teasing, pulling and pinning, and curling wand action, I love using the Pantene Pro-V Repair & Protect Miracle Repairing Shampoo and Protecting Conditioner!  It helps restore beat up hair and protects against further heat damage – perfect for people like me who are addicted to the curling wand and who like to be blonde (when I’m actually a brunette)!  The Pantene Pro-V Repair & Protect collection includes concentrated moisturizers and conditioners that help reduce hair friction and tangles while smoothing the hair to provide damage protection, resulting in a visible reduction of damage.  I’m taking you through step-by-step to get this look and including all the tools you’ll need!

1 – Start by lightly spraying your hair with Pantene Pro-V Airspray Flexible Hold Hairspray to give your roots a little texture.  It leaves my hair feeling moisturized and silky soft for healthy body and bounce!

2 – Section off the top half of your hair. I like to leave a little on the sides for volume and take more hair from the front to back.

3 – Using a fine-tooth brush, gently tease the front and back of that section of hair you just pulled. I try to tease the roots and then lightly tease the entire section of hair up to the root for extra bun volume.

4 – Smoosh the hair on top of your hair as messy as possible.

5 – Start wrapping your hair into a messy bun using a thin (or clear) hair-tie.

6 – After securing the hair-tie, pull out pieces from the top of your head for root volume and start loosening up the bun for a messier look. Secure any hanging pieces with bobby pins and tuck them back into the bun.

7 – Wrap a few sections of the bottom hair around a curling wand in random directions.

8 – Lightly spritz hair with Pantene Pro-V Airspray Flexible Hold Hairspray for lasting (but lightweight) hold, and run fingers through hair to break up any curls to get that lived-in look.  This lightweight spray provides a smooth finish for your style. It has an alcohol-free formula, containing no ethanol – a healthier hairspray.

I love this look for both long and short hair + the bun looks great pulled back lower for a more sophisticated look!  The Pantene Pro-V Repair & Protect Collection and more Pantene Pro-V Hair Care products are available on Amazon.  Having your hair products shipped to your home is a huge time-saver!

I love this hairstyle, but no matter how hard I try I can never get it. Maybe your tips will help!
