This dining room makeover has been a real labor of love, but I’m so excited to team up with my friends at Raymour & Flanigan to reveal what we’ve been working on the last few months! Our dining room and breakfast nook off the kitchen is an open floor plan and has been desperately needing a makeover to give it a more cohesive feel. We picked out two gorgeous dining sets from Raymour and Flanigan, the Fair Harbour Dining Room Set for the formal dining room and the high-top Kenton Set for the casual space off the kitchen (and admittedly where we eat most meals since it’s just the two of us). When we do have our family over, we need the space. Since it’s typically a large group, it’s so nice to have seating for everyone between both rooms and we’ve already put them both to great use! And, since getting married and aquiring a bunch of serving dishes and stemware, we were in need of storage. We didn’t want to overwhelm the room with a traditional hutch — and the thought of moving something that large when we buy a house immediately gave me anxiety, so we converted the Fair Harbour Bookcase to fit our needs! It’s the perfect amount of shelving and I love the sliding doors for easy access.

We added some much needed texture to the room with these gorgeous velvet curtains from West Elm and this jute rug from nuLOOM. My favorite way to keep a neutral room from feeling flat is to add a little texture — a little goes such a long way! We added pops of green with this palm plant that we stole from the living room (the Christmas tree is currently in its spot for now) and with these gorgeous holiday blooms from my friends over at BloomThat! We added a few personalized touches to the room with our recent travel to Italy — this Italian Coast photo from Minted reminds us of the last leg of our trip and I added a few of our own photos from Capri in these pretty chevron frames. The downstairs of our house feels so cozy and inviting — it’s honestly hard for us to leave!
If you missed any of my home decor posts in 2016, make sure to check out the living room makeover from spring here and our master bedroom makeover from last winter here! We’re crossing our fingers that 2017 brings us our forever home, so there might just be a ton of home decor posts in the near future!
