For Christmas, Raja and I decided to be 100% practical for once and buy ourselves something we actually needed, a new bed. We finally upgraded to a king size slice of heaven and ended up getting one of the most fabulous beds I’ve ever been on in my life, and I sleep better now than I ever have! Since we’re still renting this house, we didn’t want to switch out all of furniture so we decided to upgrade just the headboard (to help make it easier to move down the road as well). This gorgeous tufted headboard immediately caught my eye from Wayfair and I knew I wanted to anchor the room with something neutral.
While we’ve normally had a white duvet and sheet set, I was so excited to work with the team at Boll and Branch to put together this gorgeous pewter set to switch things up. If you aren’t familiar with Boll and Branch, I’m so excited to introduce you to them! This husband and wife duo are out of New Jersey and created a line of fine linens, towels and throws that are made ethically and from only organic materials. I worked with Cory Connor, their in-house interior designer, who helped me pick out everything from the rug to the full duvet set after looking at some “before” pictures of our room, which was in major need of an overhaul. Since we didn’t want to to paint (renting probs), the pewter set is a nice, soothing change of decor and I love how relaxed our room feels! The organic cotton sheets are also incredibly soft and getting into this bed feels like a dream!

We’ve been renting this house for over 3 years and this was really our first place that we both moved into, together. I had originally moved into Raja’s condo, and although I helped him decorate it after he bought it over 8 years ago, it never really felt like my place. Moving into this house together meant we really got a chance to start fresh and incorporate both of our tastes. I’ve said this before, but Raja is very hands on when it comes to most decisions we make, remember reading all about our wedding?! As nice as it is to have a husband that actually cares about things like weddings and decor, he does not and will not let me live in a girlie fantasy! Most of our pieces are neutral and have to be a blend of both of our styles… which is probably why it’s been years of us living in this house and we’re just getting around to finishing rooms!
We both settled on the tufted headboard (about the 5th tufted item we’ve put in our house over the last few years) and this amazing ivory and grey shag rug, both from Wayfair, and we are so happy with our selection! The headboard is a gorgeous linen color with wingback sides and nail accents and the rug was an amazing find for the price. It’s soft, easy to clean (we already had a minor issue… looking at you, Mischa) and does not shed, something I was instantly worried about with a shag rug. Plus, not only did both pieces arrive fast, but Raj even admitted that the headboard wasn’t too tough to put together himself and our room was transformed in one morning.

This speakeasy silver tray was a present from my bridal shower and I absolutely love it! It coincidentally goes with my monogrammed jewelry box that my mother-in-law bought me the year before and such a fun place to store some pretty little things like this large Diptyque Candle, my favorite Tory Burch Perfume, and this Trinket Tray.
We still could use some updated wall decor (I had my eye on this gorgeous feather print art for ages) but I think we’re going to hold off on making any additional updates, and buying anything else we will have to eventually move. I guess you can say we’ve started the official house hunt over the weekend and will be spending some upcoming weekends casually looking into homes on the market currently near us in West Hartford! The thought of moving makes me immediately want to tear my hair out so we’ll be taking this process slowly with no pressure, for now!
