You may have seen either on my Instagram or Snapchat, but I took a very much needed girl’s trip to the beautiful Riviera Maya in Mexico for my best friend Jenn’s bachelorette weekend a few days ago! I was counting down the minutes to get out of the cold and couldn’t wait to spend some quality time with my favorite college friends (and former dance teammates). We’ve all been out of college 8-ish years (gahhh) and every time we’re all together, it’s like no time has passed at all… and that’s meant to be taken as a both good and bad thing, HA! After way too much fun and four days of sun and tequila, I’m still recovering. But, I wanted to share some of my favorite outfits from the long weekend as we managed to take some pictures. Shout out to Kelly, Amanda + Christine for being some of the most supportive friends in the world and putting down your beers long enough to help me WERK!
Suitcase | Weekender Bag c/o | Crossbody Bag
Passport Case c/o | Chambray Top | Sneakers
For short trips, like this four-day getaway, I always carry on my luggage. There’s nothing worse than your luggage not making your flight and I never like to even chance I won’t have my stuff for a few days! I get anxious just thinking about losing anything! I picked out this luggage set as a bridal shower gift and have been using it non-stop! This 19″ carry-on spinner is so lightweight and easy to lift, and I was able to fit the majority of what I was bring with me into it! For everything else, including my laptop, camera, and cosmetic bags, I used this Lo & Son’s Catalina Weekender bag, which even has a hidden compartment on the bottom to store shoes! I always travel in my heaviest shoes, so my favorite Adidas sneakers were the perfect pair and I was able to use this chambray top as a pool cover-up one of the days. Also, I’ve had my GiGi New York passport cover for years and was so excited to receive this updated one… hello, new initials!
Striped Poncho c/o | Bikini Top c/o | similar Denim Skirt
Lace-Up Sandals | Beach Bag | Panama Hat | Sunglasses
For our first day by the pool, I immediately put on this sleeve tube bikini top (you have to see the arms on this thing!) and this button down denim skirt. The bikini top almost doubles as a bandeau top, so I threw on this striped poncho so I could wear the look both indoors and out. This J. Crew beach bag has been a favorite of mine for years and is still in stock for under $50. While I love straw market totes, they are insanely hard to travel with (especially when you’re just carrying-on), so I usually lay this one flat on the bottom of my suitcase so I’m able to bring a beach bag along! I also found a very similar style for under $30! Also, if these lace-up sandals look familiar, it’s because they were barely off my feet last summer. I was so happy to bring them out again and they will once again be my number one again this season. They make them in about a half-dozen colors now so scoop them up before they sell out again! They are well worth the splurge!
Cut-Out Romper c/o | Leopard Clutch
Layered Necklace
For our first night, I couldn’t wait to break out this cut-out romper and tall gladiator sandals (not pictured here, but pictured below). This had to be my most comfortable outfit of the three nights and this was the softest material ever! This romper sold out fast, but you can find a similar style here and here. This leopard clutch is also part of the huge 25% off sale through 3/5 and so easy to travel with since it lays flat! I picked up this Vanessa Mooney layered necklace right before my trip (which also sold out) but she has a TON of other styles that I’m just obsessed with! No one does boho layered jewelry like her!
Tassel Top | Boater Hat | Sunglasses
For our next full beach day, I wore this Tularosa top with my favorite pair of denim cutoffs and flip flops over this fringed bathing suit! I obsessed over this printed top for weeks before it arrived in the mail and is such a perfect boho piece, from the lace detailing to the tassels! This same print is also available in this long-sleeved dress and this stunning maxi dress, plus I’m already looking at this drool-worth tassel bikini for an upcoming trip! I also picked up this straw boater hat last summer and it’s surprisingly still in stock and only $15!!!!
Boater Hat | Fringed Swimsuit c/o | Beaded Bracelets
This swimsuit is actually from last summer but one of my absolute favorites I’ve ever owned and it’s back in stock this season and available in all sizes. From the print, to the fit, to the fringe, it’s a total win in my book. Oh, and did I mention it’s $30?! And here is the $15 boater hat yet again!
Floral Maxi Dress c/o | Gladiator Sandals | Crossbody Bag
Layered Necklace
For our second night, I paired this floral maxi dress in this gorgeous black and white print with my Stuart Weitzman gladiator sandals for a little contrast. Us girls ended up having a full-blown conversation on how most gladiator sandals don’t for the life of you stay up all night, but I’m here to tell you, these are a miracle. Stuart Weitzman makes some of my absolute favorite shoes (I rave about these OTK boots constantly) and they are some of the only shoes that ever stay put like they are meant to. This tall pair of gladiator sandals are pricey, but they’ve been around for years and don’t seem to be going away! If you’re looking to invest, I would highly suggest them. If the price tag is just too hard to swallow, this pair is about half the price and equally as cute!
GUYS! These were the sandals that I scooped up back in early January and counting the seconds until I could wear them! They completely sold out on Shopbop (where I got them) but I searched and searched and found them HERE! I am obsessed with them and they are probably one of my favorite items I’ve ever purchased! What can I say? They make me happy!
Bikini Top c/o | High Rise Bottoms c/o | Sunglasses
I’m sort of a risk taker when it comes to bathing suits and have been trying more and more styles to really find what fits me best. Although a standard two-piece is the best to avoid serious tan lines, they aren’t all that fun! This set from Aerie was one of the most daring suits I’ve ever worn and I had been dying to find a high-rise set that worked for my body and this one delivered! I think the high-rise sets can sometimes look a little too “pin-up” for my style but this one still had a boho vibe to it and this pattern was perfect against the Caribbean water! Aerie actually makes some of my favorite swimsuits and the price point is amazing… this set is actually under $60 and right now you can buy one, get one piece half off.
Blue Silk Romper | Printed Jumpsuit c/o
Lariat Necklace | Gold Cuff
For our last and final night, I brought along a few printed jumpers and my friend Kelly and I ended up wearing them (we like to match)! This blue silk floral romper has been on the blog before and it’s one of my absolute favorite prints, ever! I was excited to wear this backless printed wide-leg jumpsuit for the first time and paired it with some of my favorite statement jewelry including this lariat necklace I’ve had for years and this gorgeous gold cuff.
Chambray Dress c/o | Leather Flip Flops
Beach Bag | Panama Hat | Sunglasses
For our last pool day, I wore this chambray lace-up dress over this one-piece swim suit before we had to head back to the airport to come home! I talked about this on Snapchat, but these are my favorite flip flops ever! They come in a few different nude colors and last season after season!
Leaving the gorgeous 75 degree weather was one of the worst things in the world. I’ve never had such beautiful, low-humidity, Caribbean weather in my life! I’m itching to plan another trip this month, so Raj and I might be jetting out of Connecticut once again in the next few weeks! Any Caribbean locations you recommend would be great!
