Still summering. Unapologetically and on purpose, because if you know me, you know I absolutely cannot stand how quickly everyone rushes past this season, especially in New England where we get maybe 8 weeks of real summer if we’re lucky. We do this every year without fail. 2 hours from home and somehow it feels like we’ve landed somewhere on the French Riviera. @oceanhouseri has that effect on people and I stopped questioning it a long time ago.

There is something that happens to us when we get away from Connecticut, from the mental load of running a household and 2 businesses and 2 very opinionated toddlers. We fall right back into the version of us that existed before all of it. The couple that used to stay at dinner for 4 hours just talking. We rode bikes, got 9 hours of sleep a night, and had a few uninterrupted meals, and I cannot stress enough what that combination can do for a marriage. Highly recommend, 10 out of 10.

19 years together. 11 married. And I still catch myself thinking I really like this person. Not in any surface level way, but in a we-have-been-through-genuinely-hard-things-and-I-would-still-choose-you-every-single-time kind of way.

Turning 40 felt like the right moment to actually stop and notice that. So we did.

Comment BEACH below and I will send you everything I packed and wore for the trip.

19 years. 11 married. Still my favorite person to do absolutely everything with.

The way I could just live in easy summer pieces.

Imagine what a few uninterrupted meals could do for a marriage.

This matcha girlie made the mistake of having coffee and promptly felt anxiety re-enter my body within 15 minutes 🤣

The amount of compliments I got on this bag! Wait until you see the price!

I wish I could say “it’s like riding a bike” but truthfully, I panic for the first 10 minutes I’m back on a bike every single time 🤣

This $20 sarong always stays in my beach bag for a quick coverup.

Dinner on the beach, I’ve always wanted to do the famous Ocean House Lobster Boil.

It was everything and more 😍

Watch Hill sunsets are elite.

The best few days. ❤️

The silence was deafening. 😂

(For the record… we both lost within minutes.)

There’s something funny about becoming parents. You spend months looking forward to getting away, and then halfway through dinner you’re wondering what your kids are doing and thinking about how much they would have loved being there.

Two kids in and I still can’t always tell their cries apart. 🤣🙃

For the longest time I was the mom squinting at one tiny app, toggling back and forth between rooms, guessing who actually needed me. Not anymore.

I got Nanit’s Sleep Soundly Bundle 💤 the camera, floor stand, Nanit Home display, flex stand, and travel case — and the split screen alone has been a game changer. Both rooms, one screen, right on my nightstand. No more hallway roulette at 3am.

And if you’ve been eyeing Nanit, now’s the time 👏🏻 the whole bundle is 25% off during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. That’s $125 in savings, but only while the sale lasts (public access runs 7/18–8/9). Linked in my stories!

If you had shown 25-year-old me this photo, she would’ve focused on the number 40.

She would’ve wondered if I looked older. If I’d accomplished enough. If I had somehow become the version of adulthood I thought I was supposed to be chasing.

Instead, all I see is a life that feels full. Not perfect by any means. Not easy. Just full.

A husband I’ve grown up with. Two little people who somehow make every day feel impossibly long and impossibly short at the same time. A career I built from a tiny corner of the internet that turned into friendships, opportunities, and now a podcast where I get to have the kinds of conversations I wish women had more often.

One of the biggest surprises about getting older is how much quieter the outside world becomes. Not because people stop having opinions, but because you slowly stop giving them so much authority over your life.

You stop trying to win everyone’s approval. You stop chasing a version of success that was never yours to begin with. You become more interested in making memories than making everything look perfect.

Twenty-five-year-old me would’ve worried about whether this was the perfect family photo.

Forty-year-old me knows this is the one I’ll treasure because it isn’t.

Here’s to 40. To a life that feels fuller than I ever imagined, and to finally realizing that was the goal all along. 🩷

A little Newport recap. ⚓️ 💙 🐚

We road-tripped up from Connecticut and stayed at @newportharborisland on Goat Island. If you’re traveling with little kids, I’d absolutely recommend it. The property was super family-friendly, and those long walks to and from downtown ended up being some of our favorite parts of the trip. They gave us a chance to slow down, push the stroller, and actually catch up in the middle of the chaos.

Some favorites:
• Gooseberry Beach (perfect for little kids)
• Dinner at Castle Hill Inn & Stoneacre Brasserie
• Sunset cruise around Newport Harbor
• S’mores by the fire at the hotel

Most of our outfits are linked in my LTK and ShopMy (link in bio). You can comment NEWPORT and I’ll send you the list!

Coffee runs are now a full production 🙃 but the Joolz Hub2 stroller has me feeling like I’ve got it together. One-handed fold when I’ve got my hands full (always), a footboard so my toddler can hop on when those little legs tire out, compact enough to fit through every tight door and small enough to toss in the trunk for travel too. The Joolz Summer Sale is live now through July 7th — link in bio if you’ve been eyeing one. #Joolzpartner #joolzhub2 @joolzusa

The kids have a bedtime routine. I apparently do not. 😂

One of my favorite parts of the day is when the house finally gets quiet and everyone is settled for the night. We’ve been incorporating @eezcompany SleepEEZ into our bedtime routine, and I love having an option to support those nights when winding down feels a little harder than usual.

Picked ours up during a recent Walmart run, and it’s become part of our evening routine.

Now excuse me while I spend the next two hours scrolling instead of going to bed myself. 🙃
