This past Saturday started out like any other Saturday… breakfast at our favorite bagel spot followed by some local weekend errands. It ended up being such a beautiful day, so Raj and I got ready to head to our favorite spot to take my blog pictures and to enjoy being outdoors in 60 degree weather. The area was completely abandoned so we started to get a little silly (and creative) with the photos. Leaping across the grass, twirling so the scarf would blow in the wind… there was even talk of running through a flock of geese for a funny picture (although, of course I didn’t…). Raj told me to turn around so he can get a picture of my new boots and when I turned back around, he was on his knee.
After 7 1/2 years together, and living together for almost five of them… it’s kind of hard to pull off a surprise. There have been plenty of discussions between us about our future together, so I always knew this day was coming. A ton of our friends always teased us that our proposal would be some grand ordeal… with Raj coming down from a helicopter in some big, public way. I always knew in the back of my mind that he would catch me at a moment when I would be most surprised, and he definitely held up to that. I love that this moment was ours. There was no audience, no above and beyond fancy gesture… just us together in real-life. I love that he incorporated the blog into our special day. We started this adventure together and are always amazed at how far we’ve come. He is just as much a part of Oh So Glam as I am… I love that I will be able to come back to this post to re-read our story.
Thank you so much for all of your sweet words and congratulations that we have already received. We feel so loved and blessed that we not only have each other, but that we are surrounded by the most incredible people that enrich our lives. We’re so excited to take you along for this journey.
I’m not going to lie… I’ve never been one of those girls who has had her entire wedding planned before she’s even engaged. I of course have some ideas, but I would welcome any recommendations on Connecticut locations, vendors and any bridal advice to keep me somewhat sane over the next year.

December 29, 2014 at 12:40 amCongrats lovebirds!
It may not be the most outrageous proposal but that doesn’t make it any less beautiful.. I really like the fact that it was just the two of you (that’s how I want it as well) since it is all about you two!
I must say that your future hubby chose a very beautiful ring, I love it 🙂
& the last picture of you two, could it be even more cute, beautiful and full of happiness?! I get an instant smile on my face by seeing you two so happy!
Enjoy the engaged life and planning your wedding 🙂

December 29, 2014 at 11:59 amBig congrats on your engagement! I love that your engagement story is so personal and intimate. You’ll love telling it to your kids someday. 🙂
I found your blog through Lauren McBride sometime last year and have been following along since. I am a wedding photographer here in CT (http://www.aliciaannphotographers.com) but I have written quite a few blog posts on vendors and venues I recommend in the area. If you have any questions or want some guidance based on the style/vibe of your wedding, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to dialogue via email or even to meet up for coffee 🙂

December 29, 2014 at 1:37 pmTwo locations I loved when trying to find a place to have my wedding (which we ended up going to St. Lucia for instead!) are The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station and The Amber Room Colonade. Two completely different locales with each of their own charm! Good luck planning and congrats to you and Raj!

December 29, 2014 at 11:32 pmCheck out Branford house! I got engaged a month or so ago and we are getting married there. Right in the water at Avery point (love the uconn connection- has the blue signs and everything). It has beautiful woodwork and stonework inside and two stone patios. The rules are very non-restrictive… You get the whole day, no extra $ for more hours etc and you can use any vendors/caterers you want. It has a lighthouse, huge lawn, and water views on 3 sides. Other places we looked: webb barn in wethersfield (gorgeous for barn style wedding but has some hour limits), and St. Clements castle (wasn’t impressed).
