This past Saturday started out like any other Saturday… breakfast at our favorite bagel spot followed by some local weekend errands.  It ended up  being such a beautiful day, so Raj and I got ready to head to our favorite spot to take my blog pictures and to enjoy being outdoors in 60 degree weather.  The area was completely abandoned so we started to get a little silly (and creative) with the photos.  Leaping across the grass, twirling so the scarf would blow in the wind… there was even talk of running through a flock of geese for a funny picture (although, of course I didn’t…).  Raj told me to turn around so he can get a picture of my new boots and when I turned back around, he was on his knee.

After 7 1/2 years together, and living together for almost five of them… it’s kind of hard to pull off a surprise.  There have been plenty of discussions between us about our future together, so I always knew this day was coming.  A ton of our friends always teased us that our proposal would be some grand ordeal… with Raj coming down from a helicopter in some big, public way.  I always knew in the back of my mind that he would catch me at a moment when I would be most surprised, and he definitely held up to that.  I love that this moment was ours.  There was no audience, no above and beyond fancy gesture… just us together in real-life.  I love that he incorporated the blog into our special day.  We started this adventure together and are always amazed at how far we’ve come.  He is just as much a part of Oh So Glam as I am… I love that I will be able to come back to this post to re-read our story.

Thank you so much for all of your sweet words and congratulations that we have already received.  We feel so loved and blessed that we not only have each other, but that we are surrounded by the most incredible people that enrich our lives.  We’re so excited to take you along for this journey.

I’m not going to lie… I’ve never been one of those girls who has had her entire wedding planned before she’s even engaged.  I of course have some ideas, but I would welcome any recommendations on Connecticut locations, vendors and any bridal advice to keep me somewhat sane over the next year.

    Congrats lovebirds!
It may not be the most outrageous proposal but that doesn’t make it any less beautiful.. I really like the fact that it was just the two of you (that’s how I want it as well) since it is all about you two!
I must say that your future hubby chose a very beautiful ring, I love it 🙂
& the last picture of you two, could it be even more cute, beautiful and full of happiness?! I get an instant smile on my face by seeing you two so happy!
Enjoy the engaged life and planning your wedding 🙂

Hi! Congrats! The Del Mar in Greenwich, CT is very nice, and so is Greenwich Country Club. Its not in Connecticut, but Westchester Country Club is beautiful for weddings and has a hotel for guests! Congrats, love your blog!

Big congrats on your engagement! I love that your engagement story is so personal and intimate. You’ll love telling it to your kids someday. 🙂

I found your blog through Lauren McBride sometime last year and have been following along since. I am a wedding photographer here in CT (http://www.aliciaannphotographers.com) but I have written quite a few blog posts on vendors and venues I recommend in the area. If you have any questions or want some guidance based on the style/vibe of your wedding, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to dialogue via email or even to meet up for coffee 🙂

Two locations I loved when trying to find a place to have my wedding (which we ended up going to St. Lucia for instead!) are The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station and The Amber Room Colonade. Two completely different locales with each of their own charm! Good luck planning and congrats to you and Raj!

Check out Branford house! I got engaged a month or so ago and we are getting married there. Right in the water at Avery point (love the uconn connection- has the blue signs and everything). It has beautiful woodwork and stonework inside and two stone patios. The rules are very non-restrictive… You get the whole day, no extra $ for more hours etc and you can use any vendors/caterers you want. It has a lighthouse, huge lawn, and water views on 3 sides. Other places we looked: webb barn in wethersfield (gorgeous for barn style wedding but has some hour limits), and St. Clements castle (wasn’t impressed).

I refuse to accept that once you have kids you’re supposed to fade into leggings and oversized sweatshirts forever.

You can be practical and polished.
Comfortable and cool.

Lately I’ve been realizing how much of the baby years were about getting through the day, and how different it feels once that phase starts to lift.

Having a little more space has made me more intentional. Not about doing more, but about doing things differently. Paying attention to what actually helps. Letting go of how I think things should look. Being honest about what my body, time, and energy can handle in this season.

None of this happened overnight, and it’s still very much a work in progress. But these are the things that are genuinely helping me feel more like myself again, slowly and realistically.

We talk about this kind of stuff a lot on my podcast, @prettyinpinkagain which I co-host with one of my best friends. The in-between seasons, identity shifts, motherhood, and figuring it out as we go.

If this feels like the phase you’re in too, you’re not alone!

I used to think I needed a totally different wardrobe for every version of my life.
Turns out… you just need pieces that actually work for how you really live.

These are 7 outfits I actually wore this week - not staged, not “aspirational,” just real life.

Some brands just grow with you.

I wanted an everyday bag that actually fits my life right now. One I can wear year-round, throw in the car, take everywhere, and not think twice about using. Classic, neutral, durable, and still really beautiful.

This one surprised me in the best way. The quality, the feel, the versatility, and the price point for what you’re getting just make sense. It works with everything in my closet and feels like one of those pieces I’ll reach for over and over again.

If you’re in a phase of wanting things that feel elevated but still work for real life, this is a good one.

Rebuilding my wardrobe one staple at a time, and this @aritzia haul is a good example of how I’ve been shopping lately.

If your closet feels off or you’re trying to build a capsule wardrobe, this is one of my favorite places to start. Their viral wide-leg pants are famous for a reason, and I love how easy it is to mix and match everything. Neutral, lightweight pieces that work for everyday life and actually get worn.

I already own several of these styles and just keep adding a few at a time because the quality is there and the pieces all work together.

If you’re in a reset-your-wardrobe era, this is a great place to look.

    I wasn’t sad, I just needed:
✨ a date night
✨ a reason to get dressed up
✨ a drink in a real glass
✨ a show
✨ and a night that wasn’t about bedtime routines

10/10 recommend the @dancingwiththestars tour for a fun night out.

Proof that a night out fixes a lot.
