Do you guys remember when you saw me on a swing in a white dress a few weeks back? This bridal shoot has been in the works for months and I was so excited to team up with my good friend Ashley from A Styled Affair to make both of our boho bridal dreams come true. I’ve known Ashley for years and worked with her back at my old job before I left to blog full-time. Ashley is up in Boston now and created A Styled Affair, an event company focused on style and design for anything related to your big day. Ashley had one of the most gorgeous vintage weddings in Newport, RI in 2014 and wanted to help other brides create their dream wedding. Not only does she have incredible style herself, but her attention to every detail and ability to see the big overall picture makes her such a joy to work with. She styled this shoot from the ground up and we’re so thrilled to share every little detail with you!
We shot a few different looks with the amazingly talented Ashley Caroline Photography in this gorgeous ruffle-sleeve white dress. Can you believe this dress is off-the-rack and isn’t even a real wedding dress?! It’s perfect for a more laid-back, boho wedding (like we shot below) and would be a great white dress for a boho bridal shower or rehearsal dinner!
If the name Emily sounds familiar, it’s because she did my hair and makeup for my own wedding and is about the best there is. For my wedding, we did my hair very simple, but Ashley wanted lots of boho braids and twists for this shoot and Emily delivered. This fishtail, twisted pony tail is beyond on its own but we added this gorgeous flower hair piece and it just made me swoon! She also used a lot of the same makeup from my own wedding last summer including the Urban Decay Naked palette and focused on creating a neutral, soft smokey eye and accentuated my brows and lips. Since I’m mildly obsessed with a matte nude lip at the moment, we used my L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss in ‘Statement Nude’ for subtle color and I got every girl in that room hooked on this stuff!
For our second look, Ashley brought along some gorgeous head pieces including this beautiful vintage inspired veil and tiara, which we worked into the back on my hair, instead of styling it on my top of my head! How cool is that?! Her ideas continue to amaze me!
For my hair, Emily created a crown braid from the sides of my hair and pinned up some of the longer strands into the back of my head to give more of a loose up-do look. I love how different these hair pieces and hair styles make the dress look!
For our last look, Emily used the same crown braid from the last look and let down my curls for a more un-done look. Make sure to check out Ashley’s blog from A Styled Affair for more insight to her vision for this shoot and stop by Ashley Caroline Photography for more beautiful images!
